The USA Men’s Basketball lost in the second exhibition match against Australia. Australia played very well in this match. Australia, which is also powered by many players who play in the world’s highest basketball league, namely NBA, has also strengthened the lineup of players. The USA played with a significant change in the offensive sector but it was not enough to be able to win the match this time. This match is the second time the United States has suffered a painful defeat, 90–87 against Nigeria and this time the USA suffered a 91–83 defeat over Australia in the match at Michelob ULTRA Arena, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, Nevada.

This second loss is certainly a big benchmark for every country that will participate in the Tokyo Olympics, Japan later. The USA, which is the biggest candidate to win at this prestigious event, can be said to have decreased performance. The performance of the United States is not as good as in the previous year, where the United States is a “loyal customer” to win a gold medal.

In this exhibition match, Damian Lillard who is the star of the Portland Trail Blazer played for 31 minutes and scored 22 points, 1 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal. Then, followed by Kevin Durant with 17 points, Bradly Beal with 12 points, and Jayson Tatum with 8 points. The USA played quite well in the attacking sector in the first half. However, mistakes were made that makes Australia dominate the match. The lack of chemistry in the USA players was evident in this match. Teamwork is not well established.

Besides that Australia, played dominant. Patty Mills, who is a player from the San Antonio Spurs, dominated the offensive play. Patty Mills made 22 points, and then followed by Joe Ingles with 17 points, Matisse Thybulle from the bench, and is also a rookie player who made 12 points. Australia played with great confidence and great strategies. Some Australian players who also play in the NBA show that they are good players.

The USA must immediately rebuild or try to recompose its players, of course. Dynamic and very entertaining games are certainly often displayed by the United States, but the results of these 2 matches, certainly raise a lot of questions for all basketball fans.
